Pre & POST Care CO2

Please reach us at hello@bareluxurylaser.com if you cannot find an answer to your question. In Scottsdale the sun is always beam and we love this. However, before and after it's important to be mindful.

1. Avoid Sun Exposure (STRICT)

Avoid direct sun exposure, tanning beds, and self-tanner for at least 2 weeks prior.

Skin must be untanned and stable before treatment.
Recent sun exposure increases the risk of complications and pigment changes.

2. Discontinue Active Skincare

Stop using the following on the treatment area 5–7 days prior:

  • Retinol / Retinoids
  • Exfoliating acids (AHA/BHA)
  • Benzoyl peroxide
  • Prescription topicals (unless directed otherwise)

Your skin should be calm and non-irritated before resurfacing.

3. Avoid Recent Treatments

Do not receive the following for at least 2 weeks prior:

  • Chemical peels
  • Microneedling
  • Laser treatments
  • Aggressive facials or exfoliation

The skin barrier must be fully intact before CO₂.

4. Keep Skin Hydrated and Healthy

In the days leading up to your appointment:

  • Use gentle, hydrating skincare
  • Avoid over-exfoliation
  • Support your skin barrier

Well-prepared skin responds more predictably and heals more efficiently.

5. Medication & Health Disclosure

Please inform us if you:

  • Are taking antibiotics or photosensitizing medications
  • Have a history of cold sores (HSV)
  • Are prone to hyperpigmentation or scarring
  • Have any active skin conditions or irritation

Preventative medication (such as antivirals) may be recommended in certain cases.

6. Avoid Blood Thinners (If Applicable)

If approved by your provider, avoid for several days prior:

  • Aspirin
  • Ibuprofen
  • Alcohol

This helps reduce the risk of unnecessary inflammation or bruising.

(Always consult your physician before stopping any medication.)

7. Arrive With Clean Skin

On the day of treatment:

  • No makeup
  • No lotions or oils
  • No sunscreen on the treatment area

Skin must be clean and product-free.

MELANIN SMART™ CONSIDERATION

CO₂ resurfacing requires careful candidacy selection, especially for melanin-rich or pigment-sensitive skin.

Your treatment plan will be based on:

  • Pigment behavior
  • Risk of post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation
  • Recovery tolerance

In some cases, treatment may be modified, staged, or postponed to prioritize safety.

IMPORTANT NOTE

CO₂ is a corrective, not casual, treatment.

Preparation is essential to:

  • Support controlled healing
  • Reduce inflammation
  • Minimize pigment risk
  • Improve overall outcomes

FINAL REMINDER

No sun. No actives. Keep your skin calm and supported.

1. Avoid Sun Exposure

Avoid direct sun exposure, tanning beds, and self-tanner on the treatment area for at least 10–14 days prior.

Sun-exposed or recently tanned skin increases sensitivity and the risk of unwanted pigment changes.

2. Discontinue Active Skincare

Stop using the following on the treatment area 3–5 days prior:

  • Retinol / Retinoids
  • Exfoliating acids (AHA/BHA)
  • Benzoyl peroxide
  • Any aggressive or sensitizing products

Your skin should be calm and balanced before treatment.

3. No Recent Treatments or Procedures

Avoid for at least 1–2 weeks prior:

  • Chemical peels
  • Microneedling
  • Laser treatments
  • Aggressive facials or exfoliation

This allows the skin barrier to fully recover before resurfacing.

4. Keep Skin Hydrated and Healthy

In the days leading up to your appointment:

  • Use gentle, hydrating skincare
  • Avoid over-exfoliating
  • Focus on barrier support

Well-prepared skin responds more predictably to treatment.

5. Arrive With Clean Skin

On the day of your appointment:

  • No makeup
  • No lotions or oils
  • No sunscreen on the treatment area

Skin should be clean and product-free.

6. Notify Us of Medications or Skin Changes

Please inform us if you:

  • Are taking antibiotics or photosensitizing medications
  • Have active breakouts, irritation, or inflammation
  • Have had recent sun exposure

This helps us determine if treatment should proceed or be adjusted.

7. Avoid Heat Before Treatment

On the day of your appointment, avoid:

  • Saunas
  • Steam rooms
  • Intense workouts

This keeps the skin calm and reduces sensitivity.

MELANIN SMART™ NOTE

CoolPeel® is a controlled resurfacing treatment, but preparation is especially important for melanin-rich or pigment-sensitive skin.

Proper pre-care helps:

  • Reduce inflammation risk
  • Support even healing
  • Minimize post-treatment pigment changes

FINAL REMINDER

Keep your skin calm. Stay out of the sun. Avoid actives.

IMMEDIATELY AFTER TREATMENT

You may experience:

  • Redness (similar to a moderate sunburn)
  • Swelling
  • Heat and sensitivity
  • Tightness in the skin

These responses are expected and part of the healing process.

FIRST 3–7 DAYS (CRITICAL HEALING WINDOW)

Keep Skin Protected and Supported

Your skin is in an active healing phase.

  • Do not touch, pick, or scratch the skin
  • Avoid friction, pressure, or unnecessary contact
  • Follow all post-care products exactly as directed

Gentle Cleansing Only

Cleanse with a gentle, non-irritating cleanser as instructed.

  • Use lukewarm water
  • Pat dry — do not rub
  • Avoid cleansing brushes or tools

Maintain Moisture Barrier

Keeping the skin properly hydrated is essential.

  • Apply recommended healing products consistently
  • Do not allow the skin to become dry or cracked
  • Reapply as directed to support barrier repair

DO NOT USE ACTIVE PRODUCTS

Avoid until fully healed (typically 7–14+ days or as advised):

  • Retinol / Retinoids
  • Exfoliating acids (AHA/BHA)
  • Benzoyl peroxide
  • Vitamin C (unless approved)
  • Any stimulating or resurfacing products

SUN EXPOSURE (STRICT)

Avoid direct sun exposure for at least 2–4 weeks.

Once healing allows:

  • Use broad-spectrum SPF 30+ daily
  • Reapply consistently

Sun exposure during healing significantly increases the risk of pigmentation changes.

PEELING & SKIN RENEWAL

Your skin may:

  • Flake
  • Peel
  • Feel rough or dry

This is part of the resurfacing process.

  • Do not pick or manually remove peeling skin
  • Allow shedding to occur naturally

HEAT & ACTIVITY

Avoid until healing has progressed:

  • Saunas
  • Steam rooms
  • Intense workouts
  • Hot environments

Excess heat can increase inflammation and delay recovery.

MELANIN SMART™ CONSIDERATION

For melanin-rich or pigment-sensitive skin, post-care is especially critical.

Careful management of:

  • Inflammation
  • Heat exposure
  • Sun protection

Helps reduce the risk of post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation and supports even healing.

RESULTS TIMELINE

As the skin heals, you may notice:

  • Smoother texture
  • Improved tone
  • Gradual softening of lines or irregularities

Collagen remodeling continues over time.

WHEN TO CONTACT US

Please reach out if you experience:

  • Excessive or prolonged swelling
  • Signs of infection
  • Unusual discomfort
  • Any concerns during healing

FINAL REMINDER

Protect the skin. Keep it hydrated. Let it heal without interference.

Your results depend on how your skin is supported during recovery.

IMMEDIATELY AFTER TREATMENT

You may experience:

  • Mild redness
  • Warmth or sensitivity
  • A tight or dry feeling

These responses are expected and typically subside within a few days.

FIRST 24–72 HOURS

Keep Skin Calm

Avoid:

  • Hot showers or baths
  • Saunas or steam rooms
  • Intense workouts
  • Excessive heat or sweating

This helps minimize inflammation and supports proper healing.

Keep Skincare Simple

Use only:

  • Gentle cleanser
  • Hydrating, barrier-supporting products

Avoid for at least 3–5 days:

  • Retinol / Retinoids
  • Exfoliating acids (AHA/BHA)
  • Benzoyl peroxide
  • Scrubs or active treatments

HYDRATION & HEALING

Your skin may feel dry or slightly rough as it renews.

  • Keep the skin well hydrated
  • Do not pick, peel, or exfoliate prematurely
  • Allow the skin to naturally shed and smooth

SUN EXPOSURE (CRITICAL)

Avoid direct sun exposure for at least 10–14 days.

If exposure is unavoidable:

  • Use broad-spectrum SPF 30+ daily
  • Reapply consistently

Sun exposure during healing can increase the risk of pigment changes.

MAKEUP & DAILY ACTIVITY

  • Makeup can typically be worn within 24–48 hours if the skin feels comfortable
  • Resume normal activities once redness and sensitivity have subsided

MELANIN SMART™ NOTE

For melanin-rich or pigment-sensitive skin, post-care is essential.

Managing heat, inflammation, and sun exposure helps:

  • Support even healing
  • Reduce the risk of post-inflammatory pigmentation
  • Protect long-term results

RESULTS TIMELINE

Skin will gradually appear:

  • Smoother
  • More refined
  • More even in tone

Results continue to improve as collagen stimulation develops over time.

WHEN TO REACH OUT

Contact us if you experience:

  • Prolonged redness or irritation
  • Unusual skin reactions
  • Any concerns during healing

FINAL REMINDER

Hydrate. Protect. Let your skin renew.
